1. In my classroom, I want technology to be used in meaningful ways that impact learning. Collaboration (see collaboration tab) is a critical element of classroom learning. Students will collaborate using Google applications, digital story telling to communicate learning, and Skype conversations to gain new perspectives. Using the ISTE standards to guide instruction, technology can be used to support students as they learn.
2. Technology will be used to provide unique and meaningful experiences for students that they could not get inside the classroom. In my classroom, students will take virtual field trips to expand their understanding and gain new experiences.
3. Digital assessment tools will be used in my classroom to provide quick, efficient, and authentic feedback of student learning. Myself, as the teacher, will better understand their level of understanding using them as both pre-assessment and formative assessment tools. Students will better understand their strengths and weakness as they receive accurate and timely feedback.
4. Students in my classroom will become digitally literate citizens. Through the tech tools used in class, they will understand how to make safe and smart decisions on the Internet. They will also learn valuable skills such as coding, that will help students develop critically thinking skills as well as understand how they can create technology and use it to their benefit.
5. To use technology meaningful in my classroom, I will develop a professional learning community. Through social media and other outlets, I can connect with educators to understand best practices and the latest application and websites.
